Binaural beats are one type of brainwave entrainment technology. Brainwave entrainment technology allows you to effortlessly enter and stay in the meditative state. It lets anyone derive the same benefits from meditation as people who meditate with traditional methods.

No more fighting with a talkative mind, no frustrations that you can’t get into meditation or worries that you’re not doing it right. With brainwave entrainment technology, you don’t need special skills, lots of time, or a trip to the mountaintop to meet your local guru. All you need is a pair of good quality headphones.

What are binaural beats?

What’s interesting about binaural beats is that they aren’t really ‘beats’ in that they don’t exist outside your brain. They are produced when two slightly different tones are introduced into each ear at precisely the same moment – for example, 210 Hz into one ear and 200 Hz into the other. Your brain will mesh the two frequencies into a middle frequency of 10 Hz, which is a brainwave frequency associated with meditation.

Binaural beats don’t exist outside the brain because if you were to play 210 Hz out of one speaker on your stereo and 200 Hz from the other speaker, the sounds would remain separate. It’s only by using stereo headphones that the brain combines them into one ‘beat’.

What are binaural beats used for?

 1. Making it easy and pleasurable to meditate.

Meditation is a very important part of life. It’s underappreciated by modern western society, because of its emphasis on stillness and being as opposed to busy-ness and doing.

Once you are in the meditative state, you can do, or not do, what you want. Here are some things you can do once you’re meditating. You can use meditation to:

  • practice having a silent mind. How? By focusing on the Omharmonics soundtrack, you can “lose yourself” in the music and quiet your mind’s chatter.
  • become self-aware. Take the opportunity to listen to your mind. You might be surprised at the thoughts that come up! Awareness is step #1 to positive change – sit quietly with yourself and look within.
  • become more spiritually connected.
  • enhance your health, and your sense of well-being.
  • relax… to “be”, with no agenda and no expectations. Ahhh, the bliss!
  • become happier, by focusing on love, peace and happiness.

Binaural beats help you get into the meditative state, and keep you there for the duration.

2. Binaural beats help you relieve stress.

Stress negatively affects you in more ways than making you frazzled and grumpy. Unreleased stress builds up in your body and causes physical problems like high blood pressure, poor digestion and hormonal imbalances.

Daily meditation increases activity in regions of the brain associated with happiness, and decrease activity in the stress regions of the brain. Over time, you become less prone to becoming stressed. You may encounter the same situations as before, but they won’t bother you nearly as much, if at all.

One way to use binaural beats for stress relief is to become aware of your inner speech during meditation. Listen, and notice negativity including complaining, worrying, blaming, jealousy, anger, sadness, irritation, etc. Then you can make a conscious choice to change that inner speech to be more positive. Example: instead of being upset that your friend left without saying goodbye, send him loving thoughts, wishing him well. It’s a choice that takes a lot of practice.

3. Use binaural beats to increase your mental abilities, memory, intelligence and problem-solving capabilities.

Binaural beats are extremely efficient at synchronizing the activity in the two hemispheres of your brain. This helps you think more holistically using both intuition and logic. Whole-brain thinking has been called genius thinking.

How to use binaural beats:

First, choose a spot for meditation: a quiet, comfortable spot free of distractions. Make sure you have an MP3 player or are close enough to your computer or stereo so you can plug in your headphones. Sit back, relax, and bliss out!

Give yourself enough time to get the full benefits of the tracks. Your brain needs 7 minutes to entrain to the frequency. To get the most from your meditation, use the 30-minute Omharmonics track; but if you’re really short on time, the 15-minute quick meditation will help you relax and de-stress.

How you meditate is totally up to you. If you want to use a traditional meditation pose (the full Lotus or its variations), you can. Or you can sit in a chair, sofa, the bed – or even meditate lying down (you can expect to be fast asleep within minutes if you lie down – it’s that relaxing!). Most people meditate with their eyes closed to minimize distractions. You can also choose a point of focus like a candle to train your mind to focus.

You can’t hear the beats that the brain is producing. All you hear is the soundtrack – a soothing, relaxing soundscape designed to put you in the best frame of mind for meditation.

When to listen to binaural beats:

Whenever you want to clear your mind, become introspective, problem-solve, stimulate your creativity, do some self-work like visualization and affirmations, take a nap (yes, you will sometimes fall asleep!) or get in touch with your Higher Self.

Please do not drive or do anything that is mentally demanding while listening. You are meant to be meditating while listening to binaural beats, not going about your daily business. Remember – BE; don’t just DO.

Be patient. Binaural beats put your brain into a meditative state, but they do not cause personal growth. That’s up to you!

Binaural beats help you relax anytime, anywhere, without special skills or knowledge. All you need is a pair of stereo headphones – the bliss you achieve is yours to enjoy as you like!
